Are you worried about someone you know?
Call the Women’s Aid 24hr National Freephone Helpline on 1800 341 900 for information and support.
Remember to look after yourself if you are supporting someone through a difficult time. Consider your own safety: please know that it is not advisable to intervene with someone who may pose a risk to you and/or their partner. Speaking to an abuser on behalf of your friend may also cause them to see you as a threat to their relationship and they may take steps to isolate your friend from you. Do try to keep communication channels open with your friend as a supporter without engaging directly with their partner (in ways that let them know that you are aware of their abusive behaviours). Please also contact our National Freephone Helpline anytime for emotional support if the situation is causing you distress.
